Clean up Sunday with APWC May 5, 2007

Holy Trinity and St. Benedict (HTSB) is in the process of growing a partnership with the Asian Pacific Women's Center (APWC) http://www.apwcla.org/ .  APWC has a domestic violence transitional shelter program and has also been partnering with the Alhambra Unified School District to provide community education and empowerment programs in the San Gabriel valley area since 2005. The recently established APWC/HTSB partnership is one of the enablers for the APWC to expand their services as well as an enabler for HTSB to expand our outreach programs to the community. We have committed to work together to bring needed services to benefit the community.

On Sunday May 5th folks from both organization came together to continue with some of our renovation efforts in Hultgren Hall.  We did a lot of cleaning an painting, particularly in the large meeting room behind Hultgren Hall. Thank you to the many who supported this effort.  For some photos of the the clean up day click here

HTSB at Ministry Fair 2006

On Saturday, March 25, 2006, 6 members of the Parish of Holy Trinity and St. Benedict were at Campbell Hall in North Hollywood for a whole fun day event of learning and socializing. The ministry fair provided many opportunities to share ideas and enhance skills in many areas of church ministry.

Gayle spent the whole day in a financial workshop for treasurers, bookkeepers and others involved in the financial aspects.  Richard went to workshops on electronic ministry, learning about church web sites and bogging for Jesus.  Manny and Brad spent most of the day at the wardens workshop discussing the roles of the wardens and vestry members.  We talked a lot about improving communication and the decision making process in our home parishes.  We also got to spend some time with Bishops Bruno, Carranza, and Talton discussing the various resources and support available to all of us at the diocesan center.  Brad also went to the "Christians in Palestine" workshop which provided an overview of the Episcopal Church in diocese of Jerusalem and outlined a recent pilgrimage of several Episcopalians from Los Angeles to the Holy land.  We discussed the need the church in Jerusalem have for our support and a few ways for us here in Los Angeles to provide that support through sister parish relationships, a pen pal program, and pilgrimage visits.  The next pilgrimage to the Holy Land is in October and will be hosted by Bishop Jon Bruno.  more to come.......
