Isaiah 12:5,6
Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.
Ephesians 5:19,20
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The members of the choir offer to God both their time and talent. We meet for choir practice on the first and second Thursday of the month from 7-9 pm and on the first and second Sunday of the month from 10-11 am.
We commit ourselves to this ministry not just for the 11:00 service but for other occasions as well. The choir also commits to a caroling tour each year to bring the joy of Christmas cheer to the wider community.
We do not sing to, or for the congregation but rather we sing to, and for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We ask that all parish members sing to God with us. We hope and pray that more will join us in this ministry. There is of course no audition or special singing talent required, only a willingness to sing to the Lord.
The 2001/02 caroling tour opened at the Fang's new residence in Alhambra on December 9th. The choir toured several south-land cities from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for nearly 1 month before closing the tour with an offering of seasonal song on Epiphany eve (Jan 5th 2002) at the Anderson's new residence in Whittier California. Although we do not ask for money for caroling, many we visited during the tour gave very generously. Through this joyful giving of many, both within and outside the parish, the choir raised nearly $4,000. This money has been allocated to the Arise and Build fund for use in refurbishing the knelling pads in the main church cathedral building.
The caroling tour although hectic at times, especially during the busy Christmas season, is always a joyful time for all who participate. The 2002/01 tour was no exception. It is a time not only of singing but also of fellowship and sharing the joys of the Christmas season in the homes of parish members and many others in the wider community in which we minister. This year the choir hit some familiar spots in Alhambra, LA, West Covina, Whittier, Rialto, Victorville, and Chino Hills in addition to some new spots in Palmdale and Las Vegas.
Many thanks to all who invited us into your homes and participated in this ministry with us. We hope and pray that God will continue to bless us in this ministry and we can continue with it next year.
